moneygram formula1 season start / partnership anthem

THE GOAL
celebrate the continued partnership between the moneygram haas f1 team and moneygram as the title sponsor in a way that links the shared equities of innovation, speed, teamwork, global, & “smart”

THE IDEA
pay homage to both the history of f1 and moneygram by creating a film inspired by the style of saul bass’ 1966 grand prix title sequence that juxtaposes visuals of F1 and moneygram users, set to an upbeat and modern music track

 

THE STATIC
to convey the concept in print and digital, i designed a diagonal split screen to allude to the parallel storylines of the drivers and the moneygram users while nodding to the dynamism and speed of f1, so i designed a diagonal split screen

THE LORE
to shoot these stills for print, we had a real down and dirty photoshoot. no extra budget outside of hiring a photographer (shoutout to the amazing tom kahler) means we had to share lighting with the film crew and shoot in the hallway of a convention center? all we had was tom’s camera and the drivers. it was a a very cool experience to work so closely with them - adjusting their garments and cracking jokes to get them to loosen up. with tom’s talent and my eye for detail, this split screen turned out exactly how i pictured it.

and of course i had to wear my checkered pants on shoot day
